11-year-old Boy Sh0t by Police After Calling 911 Released From Hospital

According to his family, an 11-year-old Mississippi kid who was sh0t by a police officer after dialing 911 for assistance is healing after being discharged from the hospital.

The cop should be fired and accused of the shooting, according to the family.

According to his mother Nakala Murry and the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation, Aderrien Murry was shot in the chest by an Indianola Police Department officer early on Saturday morning as the officer was responding to a domestic disturbance call at the child’s house.

Murry claimed that the father of a different child of hers showed up at her house at 4 am, “irate.”

Murry requested Aderrien contact the police because he was worried about her security.

According to Murry, the responding officer “had his gun drawn at the front door and asked those inside the home to come outside.” Murry claimed that her kid was shot as he entered the living area from the corner of a corridor.

“Once he came from around the corner, he got shot,” Murry claimed. “I don’t understand why. He was instructed to leave the house by the same police officer. When (Aderrien) did, he was shot. Why did he shoot me, he kept asking. What went wrong,’ she asked.

After the police urged individuals inside the house to come outside, the shooting took place “one to two minutes” later, according to Murry.

After suffering injuries from the shooting, including a collapsed lung, broken ribs, and a lacerated liver, the boy was given a chest tube and put on a ventilator at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, according to his mother. On Wednesday, he was discharged from the hospital.

Murry’s daughter and Murry’s 2-year-old nephew were among the other two kids there when the shooting occurred, according to her.

No Body Camera Video Has Been Made Public

Carlos Moore, the family attorney for Murry, claimed that a police body camera had filmed the encounter.

The attorney said that “an ongoing investigation” prevented him from getting the body camera footage.

The incident’s body camera video has not been made available to the general public.

Moore added that he was informed that the event was captured on film by a nearby petrol station.

Greg Capers is the officer that was shot, according to the Indianola Police Department, but no other information about the shooting was provided.

According to the family attorney, the Indianola Board of Aldermen decided to put Capers on paid administrative leave while the incident is looked into on Monday night.

The MBI stated in a statement over the weekend that it is “currently assessing this critical incident and gathering evidence” and that it will submit its findings to the state attorney general’s office once the inquiry is over.

Police Officer With a Grieving Family is Still Employed by the Agency

Following her son’s shooting, Murry claimed she put her hand on the wound to provide pressure while he “sang gospel songs and prayed while bleeding out.” She claimed that the cop attempted to assist with first aid and put his hand on top of hers in an effort to halt Aderrien’s bleeding.

Medical personnel was “very attentive,” she claimed until an ambulance arrived.

Moore remarked that Aderrien “was inches away from losing his life.” “For a cop to act in this way and get away with it is not acceptable. The mother requested that Aderrien report the father of her daughter to the authorities. As instructed by the police, he left his room, and he was shot.

Murry claimed that she was informed by authorities that the father of her daughter was arrested later that day on Saturday but ultimately freed because she had not reported him to the police.

When would I have time to complete that? In response to hearing that the man had been released from detention, she stated, “I was in the hospital with my son.

Murry said that “no one came to the hospital from the police station” four days after the incident and that she had not spoken to any police investigators about it.

She cried, “I’m just glad my son is alive,” she remarked.

Moore expressed his rage at Capers’ continued employment with the Indianola Police Department.

The attorney declared, “We think that the city and the officer should be accountable to Aderrien Murray for the harm they have created.

On Thursday morning, a sit-in protest will be held at the Indianola City Hall, according to Moore.

A small town with a large African American population, Indianola has 31% of its residents living in poverty. About 100 miles north of Jackson, in the Mississippi Delta, is where it is located.
