2-Year-Old Boy Found Locked in Feces-Smeared Room, Covered in Flies

According to the Fort Walton Beach Police Department, Florida deputies discovered a 2-year-old boy confined alone in a room coated with feces and crawling with insects. The child was eventually taken to the hospital.

Although the boy’s health has not been made public, authorities have stated that his wounds are not life-threatening.

According to the investigators, the finding was made on April 22 on Saturday after police received a report of “a 2-year-old juvenile left alone in a residence.”

In a news release, police stated that they saw the young person hitting the front window of the house and appeared unclean with several flies on him.

The tweet below confirms the news:

“Officers … made entry into the home where they assessed the juvenile and immediately called EMS. Officers noted the room the juvenile was in had feces on the walls, mounds of soiled diapers, an extreme amount of insect activity. The bedroom door of the room was locked from the outside.”

The young person was brought to HCA Florida Fort Walton-Destin Hospital, “and ultimately was admitted for further care.”

The parents of the child were found, according to deputies, six hours later when “they returned from shopping.”

According to police, his parents, both aged 21, have been accused of severe child abuse and neglect. The couple is listed as having a shared residence on Mississippi Avenue in Fort Walton Beach.
