70-year-old Granny Killed by Family Dog While Sunbathing

As she sunbathed in her backyard on Friday, a 70-year-old British grandmother was fatally attacked by her family’s dog, making her at least the fifth victim of a dog attack in the UK this year.

The canine attacked the woman outside her Bedworth, Warwickshire, house, and she was killed as a result.

The dog bit the 49-year-old woman’s daughter as she struggled to fend it off as it mauled her mother to death, according to a report in the DailyMail.

The daughter was treated for non-life-threatening wounds at the hospital, and both she and her husband, 52, were taken into custody on suspicion of keeping a prohibited breed of dog.

The couple’s identity is unknown.

Although the exact breed of dog that attacked the woman is unknown, American pit bull terriers, Japanese Tosas, Dogo Argentinos, and Fila Brasileiro breeds are illegal in the UK.

The tweet below verifies the news:

A neighbor informed the Daily Mail that the animal resembled a mastiff, and UK law forbids any canines that are dangerously out of control.

“Police say it was a banned breed, but I’m not sure,” the neighbor remarked.

“I don’t know what it was; it was of a bulldog-Mastiff type, quite a size with a big head.”

The neighbor, who wished to remain unnamed, continued, “When [the dog’s owner] stated he got it, he said it was a rare breed and there were only six in the country.

The man stated the family kept the dog in the back garden and he never saw it exhibit aggressive behavior. He lives across the street from where the grandmother was killed.

Nobody knows why the animal attacked and killed the poor woman; it might have lost its mind after being stung by a bee or it might have a mental health issue, he said.

“Anything could happen,”

The elderly man appeared to be in good health prior to the fatal attack, according to a neighbor who declined to provide his name.

They claimed, “I heard the air ambulance approaching and then I watched all the other emergency services arrive. “I have no idea of the breed of the dog, but it was a big one and lived outside.”

The inquiry is still underway, according to Warwickshire Police Superintendent Sutherland Lane, who invited anyone with information to come forward.

Although this kind of dog attack is thankfully extremely uncommon, the man acknowledged that the local community would be greatly outraged.
