Whole City of Houston Was Put on a Boil Water Notice: According to authorities, a water treatment facility lost power in three distinct locations, resulting in the placement of a boil water advisory for the City of Houston’s Main Water System.
Boil Water Notice Issued for Entire Houston Area
After the power went out in three separate areas of a water treatment facility, the officials said that a boil water alert has been issued for the Main Water System of the City of Houston. Because of this, the plant was unable to perform its functions normally.
According to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, there was a power outage at the East Water Purification Plant at around 10:30 a.m. on Sunday. This caused the water pressure throughout the city to drop below the statutory requirement of 20 PSI, which could result in fines and other penalties. The bare minimum for water pressure is 20 pounds per square inch.
It has been stated that more than 2.3 million people would be impacted by this notice, which was disseminated six hours after the original interruption occurred. The city employees spent the day checking the water pressure at various points throughout the day. Shortly after the disruption, the water supply was immediately and efficiently reconnected for each and every customer. Those who are experiencing low pressure are encouraged to call the City of Houston Service at the number 311, which can be found on their website.

The city believes that the injunction will be lifted no sooner than Tuesday morning, November 29 and that this will be the earliest practicable moment for the removal of the injunction. As a direct result of the announcement, members of the general public are being strongly encouraged to comply with the following recommendations if they are exposed to a boil water advisory: Bring to a boil any and all water that will be consumed, used for brushing teeth, or utilized for drinking.

“The State of Texas is quickly responding and giving resources to Houston as they struggle to get a safe supply of water back online,” said Governor Abbott. “The State of Texas is sending resources to Houston as they fight.” During this period, Houston is making efforts to restore access to a reliable source of clean water.” We have assured Mayor Turner that the state will provide him with its whole backing, and we are already working to fulfill the city’s request for assistance with the rapid processing of water sample data.
In order to present Mayor Turner with this proposition, we have been in communication with him. I would want to take this opportunity to thank TDEM and TCEQ for the rapid response they provided in assisting with the resolution of this situation. We strongly encourage anyone who is affected by the boil water alert to continue to pay attention to the direction that is provided by local officials and to take the necessary measures while boiling and consuming water. The alert was issued because of the potential presence of bacteria that could cause illness. While the city’s water supply is being repaired, we will collaborate to ensure that our fellow Texans have support during this time.”
