Plainville police are looking into what happened after a car hit and killed a pedestrian Wednesday night. The man, who police haven’t named but say was in his 40s, was hit around 7 p.m. while he was walking on Taunton Street near where it meets Shepard.
The Norfolk County District Attorney’s office says that the driver stayed at the scene of the accident and called the police. The injured person was taken to Sturdy Memorial Hospital, but he died there from his injuries.
Members of the Massachusetts State Police’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and the Norfolk District Attorney’s Motor Vehicle Homicide and Major Collision Unit are helping Plainville police with their investigation.

The victim’s name should be made public Thursday morning, after his family has been told.
The Norfolk DA’s office says there are no charges against the driver right now.
