Election History of Angus McKelvey

McKelvey received 1,329 (66.8%) of the vote in the Democratic Primary on August 11, 2012, and 4,255 (63.9%) of the vote in the General Election on November 6, 2012, defeating Republican contender Chayne Marten.

2006 McKelvey, who challenged Democratic incumbent Representative Kam Tanaka in Hawaii’s 10th Congressional District, won the Democratic primary on September 26, 2006, with 1,360 votes (59.3%), and the general election on November 7, 2006, with 2,623 votes (54.4%), against Republican nominee Ben Azman, who had previously run for Hawaii Senate in 2002.

McKelvey won the Democratic primary on September 20 with 1,286 votes despite facing no opposition, and he defeated Republican contender Ramon Madden in the general election on November 4 with 4,477 votes (60.8% of the vote).

In the Democratic Primary on September 18, 2010, McKelvey faced no opposition and won with 1,757 votes; in the Republican Primary, his 2008 opponent, Republican Ramon Madden, won, and a rematch was planned. McKelvey received 3,191 votes (61.0%) to defeat Madden in the General Election on November 2, 2010.
