In a “jarring” homicide crime scene, a dead corpse was discovered burning in a Florida field on Saturday, according to the authorities.
Shortly after 8 a.m. on Saturday, a passing motorist dialed 911 to report “what appeared to be a mannequin on fire” in an open field behind a Ruskin neighborhood, according to a statement from the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.
Firefighters who arrived on the scene put out the flames after realizing it wasn’t a mannequin but rather a dead person’s body, according to the sheriff’s office.

The person suffered burns to the upper body and was unable to be identified “due to the severity of the burns,” according to the sheriff’s office.
Fentress Fountain, a spokeswoman for the sheriff’s office, told ABC Tampa affiliate WFTS that it is unknown whether the victim was male or female.
Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister issued a statement calling the scene “jarring.” Our deputies are currently making every effort to find out what happened to this victim.
Authorities stated that they think the homicide is an isolated incident and that the matter is still being looked into.
