When Is The Beetlejuice 2 Release Date? What Is The Story Of Beetlejuice So Far?

Like the classic 1988 movie, “Beetlejuice?” It’s time for the show to begin, as production has begun on a sequel and Jenna Ortega is reportedly in talks to star.

Several outlets indicate that the 20-year-old actress is in final negotiations to portray Lydia Deetz, the role originally performed by Winona Ryder.

Brad Pitt’s production company joined the long-gestating Tim Burton sequel last year, but the project had been in development for years prior to that.

Well, here’s the latest on Beetlejuice 2 and Jenna’s speculated part in it.

Is Beetlejuice 2 Confirmed?

Yes! The actors, including Winona Ryder and Michael Keaton, and director Tim Burton had been talking about a sequel for years, but it wasn’t announced until February of last year.

Exciting news came from Deadline, which stated that Warner Bros. and Brad Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment would be producing the film.

For those who may not be familiar with the 1988 film, “Beetlejuice” follows a recently deceased couple, Adam (Alec Baldwin) and Barbara (Geena Davis), who hire the exorcist Beetlejuice to frighten away the new residents of their former house (Michael Keaton).

In addition to Tim Burton, the picture featured Winona Ryder as the gloomy young Lydia Deetz.

When Is The Beetlejuice 2 Release Date?

The sequel’s release date is still unknown. According to Hollywood Reporter’s sources, the production budget is still being hammered out, but they are expecting to begin main photography in London by the end of May or the beginning of June.

What Is The Story Of Beetlejuice So Far?

Nothing is known about the plot of Beetlejuice 2, with the only synopses being rumors based on the various previous adaptations of the film. Instead, we’ll give you a quick recap of what happened to Betelgeuse and the other characters in the first movie.

Adam (Alec Baldwin) and Barbara (Geena Davis) are the protagonists of Beetlejuice. They are a shy young couple who live in a cozy home on a hill in a peaceful suburb. When the two are making the last preparations for their trip, they encounter a quite unexpected roadblock in the form of death.

The two are killed in a vehicle crash and must learn to cope with their afterlife as apparitions while imprisoned in their own house. They handle the shift of circumstances rather well, considering they never enjoyed leaving their home much, to begin with. Charles (Jeffrey Jones), a man in need of leisure, his neurotic artist stepmother Delia (Catherine O’Hara), and their sad Goth daughter Lydia round out the family (Winona Ryder).

Adam and Barbara attempt to come up with a scheme to move the family out of the house they constructed when they get tired of them (but are tolerant to little Lydia). This introduces them to Betelgeuse (yep, spelled that way in the film), a “bio-exorcist” who focuses on human beings rather than supernatural entities.

The untrustworthy individual is charming in his own way but has nefarious intentions. As nobody can see Adam and Barbara but their daughter Lydia, they decide to terrify the new family themselves. To achieve this, they attempt to possess the family and force them to perform Harry Belafonte’s “Banana Boat (Day O),” but this backfires when Lydia’s parents see the performance as a once-in-a-lifetime chance to earn real money.

Adam and Barbara are ultimately erased from existence after their parents and Delia’s spiritual adviser and interior designer Otho (Glenn Shadix) perform a rite to bring them into the real world. Lydia, realizing she has no choice, calls upon Betelgeuse and agrees to wed the unpleasant aspiring stand-up comic, thereby releasing the poltergeist from its present imprisonment.

It’s a relief that Lydia, Adam, and Barbara can put an end to Betelgeuse and send him back to the grave. In light of this, the human family and the undead spouse mutually agree to cohabitate in the home in harmony. Betelgeuse had his head shrunken by the ghost standing next to him as he waited in line for his afterlife appointment when we last saw him.
