This week brought some excellent news for the Chadron State College football squad. Brendan Brehmer, a senior safety for Alliance, suffered a knee injury in the Eagles’ season opener that was not as severe as first anticipated, and he may be able to return to duty in a few weeks.
Brehmer was hurt early in the second quarter of a game against Angelo State in Texas on Sept. 1 while attempting to make a tackle on an Angelo punt return. He was diagnosed with a torn ACL in his right knee, which would have ended his season and career.
However, additional testing on Wednesday revealed that the damage was a meniscus tear, which generally repairs itself without surgery in a few weeks.

CSC Defensive Coordinator Clint Sasse stated that if Brehmer is able to return for the second half of the season, it will be a huge boost for the Eagles because he is one of the team’s toughest, brightest, and most physical players.
