On Friday night, a 16-year-old kid was shot and died in Brooklyn Park.
According to the Brooklyn Park Police Department, officers were called to a gunshot at the African Market in the 5700 block of Brookdale Drive at about 9:45 p.m. Officers arrived and discovered a 16-year-old boy with “numerous gunshot wounds.”
The teenager received immediate help from first responders at the site, and after being taken to a neighboring hospital, he passed away from his wounds. The victim’s name was not made public by the authorities.

In a Saturday night update, Brooklyn Park police said that they had detained a Columbia Heights resident, 18, in connection with the incident. He is detained on suspicion of second-degree m*rder.
