Gameplay

Conan Exiles’ fundamental premise is that the main character must survive in the made-up prehistoric Hyborian Age. The game’s player characters are initially found guilty of numerous crimes, given the death penalty, and crucified in the blazing desert heat. Conan saves the player character, who now has to make his way through the hostile desert landscape of the Exiled Lands as an exile.

In a subsequent update, the Frozen North biome with its own territory to explore and elements to craft armor were included. Additionally, Star metal was added, which is utilized to make stronger armor as well as better tools and weapons. The Highlands, a new biome, was added in 2017. In Q2 2018, a high-level Volcano area appeared in the far north of the game world. The most recent addition included Obsidian, which was utilized to make potent tools and weapons that competed with those made of Star Metal.

The Isle of Siptah expansion DLC was released in Q1 2021, adding three new biomes to the game (The Savannah, The Floodlands, and The Ashlands). Jens Erik, community manager for Funcom, estimates that the finished game is about 53 kilometers long.

Backstory

Warmaker Kael, one of the Giantkings, the former monarchs of the Exiled Lands, provides the player with information about the Exiled Lands’ past. According to Kael, the giant kings once received humans as refugees and gave them the option of settling in the frigid wastelands of the North. The people constructed a city within the trees, engaged in strange practices, and revered demon gods.

For a thousand years, giant kings and humans lived in harmony and engaged in trade. However, the conflict finally came out as a result of human avarice. When the conflict started, the giant kings made the bracelet, which was worn by every player to sway the human prisoners of war’s will, help them learn the giant king’s language, and keep them from fleeing. In order to fight and work for the giant kings, they began to rely on human prisoners.

The bracelets’ new function is unknown to the warmaker at this time. Near the end of the conflict, mankind unveiled a new technologically advanced weapon that could pierce troops and encase the survivors in stone. The giant kings, who were in a desperate situation, devised the ritual that called forth the Sandstorm, which burnt and obliterated everything in its path. The majority of the banished areas are now desert-like waste because of this.

Except for Warmaker Klael, all the giant kings are now deceased. Conan finally shows up to speak with the Warmaker after a long absence and sets out to find the Serpent Ring of Set.
