Denver police said that a mass shooting left at least nine people injured.
The Denver Police Department tweeted that it appears many bullets were fired during a fight involving several people in the 2000 block of Market Street.
Alert: #DPD is investigating a shooting in the 2000 block of Market St. Preliminary information indicates there are four victims who are being transported to the hospital. Three of the nine people who were shot were in serious condition, while the other six are thought to have non-life-threatening wounds, according to the police. Additionally shot was a shooting suspect.
Uncertainty exists around whether the shooting is related to the city’s celebrations after the Denver Nuggets won their first NBA championship on Monday night.
According to police, they are engaged in a “complex investigation.”

According to the Gun Carnage Archive, which, like CNN, defines a mass shooting as one in which four or more people are shot, excluding the shooter, there have been at least 290 mass shootings in the US so far this year. The carnage near downtown Denver is one of those shootings.
