Here’s the latest on Extraction 2, starring Chris Hemsworth’s Tyler Rake, including the movie’s release window, trailer, cast, and details.

Everyone knows Chris Hemsworth as Thor, the great God of Thunder, but his most ferocious performance to date was in the 2020 action blockbuster Extraction.

Extraction, an adaptation of Ande Parks’ graphic novel, shocked Netflix audiences with its intense action sequences and became the service’s most-watched original film of all time.

We’ve broken down everything you need to know about Extraction 2, from its actors to its plot to its trailer, thanks to the tireless efforts of director Sam Hargrave.

Extraction 2 Is Confirmed

In December 2020, the Russo brothers publicly stated their intention to expand the Extraction franchise into a full-fledged cinematic universe, and by May of that year, production on Extraction 2 had already begun.

According to a Republic World article from January 2021, the Russo brothers may have already begun filming a spinoff starring Randeep Hooda’s Saju Rav, the ex-paramilitary bodyguard tasked with guarding Tyler’s target.

Production on Extraction 2 wrapped in March 2022, but the Russo Brothers have provided no more major information about the status of Extraction 3 or any potential spinoffs. However, after Extraction 2 is released officially, we may hear more.

Is there a Trailer for Extraction 2?

On April 3, 2023, a brand new trailer for Extraction 2 was released. Read on for more details:

In the new trailer, Hemsworth’s protagonist uses explosives to escape a cold prison with a woman. A Molotov is thrown at him, but he continues to punch people in the face with his blazing fist.

Hargrave claims that Hemsworth knowingly allowed himself to be set on fire to create “the craziest one in cinema history.”

Telling Empire, he couldn’t pass up “the image of Chris Hemsworth beating the shit out of a bunch of prisoners, while on fire, in the snow,” the director explained why he chose to film the scene.

Also, props to Chris. It wasn’t computer-generated flames. And he had to keep doing it… Even among Hollywood celebrities, I don’t know too many who would let you set them on fire for the camera.

On May 16, 2023, a new trailer now released, and we will be sure to provide a link to it here.

Below is the first trailer for Extraction 2:

The trailer continues off right where the first film left off, with Hemsworth’s Tyler Rake (ostensibly) plunging off a bridge in Dhaka and drowning after being shot in the neck.

After Ovi (Rudhraksh Jaiswal) tells Tyler in a voiceover, “Tyler, you drown not by falling into the river but by staying submerged in it,” Tyler opens his eyes and swims to the surface.
