Florida Keys Man Arrested for Allegedly Physically Assaulting Small Dog

According to investigators, a little puppy was choked and assaulted by a 36-year-old Marathon man on Friday.

Deputies were summoned to a home on Sombrero Beach Road at 8:20 p.m., according to Adam Linhardt, a spokesman for the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, where many witnesses claimed Osiel Rodriguez-Gonzalez was irate and began swearing at the dog.

The tweet below confirms the news of the arrested man:

Later, witnesses reported to deputies seeing Rodirguez-Gonzalez hitting the dog and grabbing and strangling it by the neck.

According to the authorities, a witness claimed that the dog scurried away from Rodriguez-Gonzalez and beneath a passing automobile.

Linhardt claims that the driver stopped and picked up the dog; however, Rodriguez-Gonzalez dragged the dog away from the car by its throat.

When deputies got to the house, they noticed the dog was visibly trembling and seemed to be running away from Rodriguez-Gonzalez.

The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals was notified to inspect the dog, who, in Linhardt’s opinion, didn’t appear to have any significant wounds.

After being transported to jail, Rodriguez-Gonzalez was charged with one count of animal cruelty.

He was given a $75,000 bond.
