In a trailer home in eastern Gaston County, a 4-year-old kid passed away on Tuesday after being shot in the head.
Tuesday night, the police provided scant specifics. At the time of the shooting, there was at least one adult and other kids present, but Gaston County Police Capt. Billy Downey refused to specify how many kids or adults were there or talk about the relationships of those who were there.
In the vicinity of a dozen single-wide trailers on Cindy Lane, off Hickory Grove Road, between McAdenville and Mount Holly, police were contacted at 4:22 p.m. Dec. 13th, a Tuesday. The 4-year-old was suffering from a gunshot wound when police arrived.
According to Downey, officers made attempts to save the child’s life, but he passed away at the site. As police looked inside the mobile home and talked about the evidence outside, Downey claimed that not all of the kids were aware that the child had passed away.
Two Gaston County Police officers arrived at the home at one point, each carrying a child car seat.
Travis Page, the district attorney, referenced his own 4-year-old son in response to a question concerning the death of a person so young.
Page described the situation as “crushing.” There is nothing worse than that, I’m sure.
According to a neighbour who claims to assist with property management, the child had been residing in the house for more than a year. She was reluctant to reveal her name.
She remarked, “He was such a sweet soul. “I didn’t know his name and I didn’t know him very well, but whenever I had seen him about he was simply a joyful little child,” the author said.
While numerous police officers stood by, Sierra Stevens, 19, was strolling “Stella,” her 10-week-old German shepherd mix. Even though she didn’t know the youngster who passed away and had only been a resident of the mobile home park for about a month, she claimed to have wept when she heard the news.
Stevens said, “I feel so horrible for the family. “I simply thought about how small he probably is,” the speaker said. “I have a 4-year-old sister, and I know how small she is.”
At 4:22 pm on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, Gaston County Police were called to the 100 block of Cindy Lane, off Hickory Grove Road between McAdenville and Mount Holly, in reference to a gunshot.
