A man from Monroe County has been charged by police in Kingston on claims that he recruited a 15-year-old child for sexual activity in the previous year.
According to the documents found in the courthouse, Patrick M. Maranuk, 36, of Kunkletown, Pennsylvania, participated in a sexually explicit online communication with a cooperating witness in the month of April 2022. The witness posed as a young man.

When Maranuk thought he was going to see the teenage guy in Kingston on April 27, 2022, he was stopped by the police and questioned by them. During the confrontation between the cooperating witness and Maranuk, two police officers who were already in the area were called over.
According to the court documents, during the interrogation, Maranuk revealed that he was experimenting with his sexuality and had looked for a hookup on a social media website.

According to the court documents, the police claim that Maranuk discussed sexual actions with the “boy” and sent the “boy” nude images of himself.
It is said that the vehicle owned by Maranuk contained various items, including condoms.
On Friday, District Judge James Haggerty in Kingston arraigned Maranuk on five charges, including two counts of criminal attempt to commit unlawful contact with a minor, one count each of criminal solicitation to commit involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, criminal solicitation to commit statutory sexual assault, and criminal use of communication facility, and one count of criminal use of communication facility.
Due to the fact that he was unable to post the required bond of $50,000, he was placed in custody in the Luzerne County Correctional Facility.
