Mike Mendel was born on September 24, 1964, in Radford, Virginia. He attended Monroe-Woodbury High School in Central Valley, New York, and later studied at Syracuse University, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in television and film production.
During his time at Syracuse, Mendel worked as a production assistant on shows like ‘All My Children’ and ‘Loving.’

After graduating from Syracuse, Mendel began his full-time career in television production. He worked with James L. Brooks and Gracie Films on various productions like ‘Broadcast News,’ ‘Big,’ and ‘The Tracey Ullman Show.’
Mendel joined ‘The Simpsons’ team as a producer, working on the show from season 1 to season 10. During his tenure on the show, Mendel won three Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Animated Program.
