After two additional games in the series eventually reset the franchise, developer NetherRealm is back to tell a new story of fighting, blood, and spectacular deaths, more than a decade after Mortal Kombat’s triumphant rebirth on the Xbox 360 and PS3 age of platforms.
Soon, you may play Mortal Kombat 1, which features an updated cast of fan-favorite characters, a novel plot to investigate, and plenty of blood. Just a few months remain till the September release of Mortal Kombat 1, so here is everything we know about it thus far.

Mortal Kombat 1 Coming to PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S
The PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S versions of the game will be available for purchase, however, the PS4 and Xbox One versions will not. Interestingly, a full-fledged port of Mortal Kombat 1 is also in the works for Nintendo Switch, being developed by Shiver Entertainment and Saber Interactive under NetherRealm’s supervision. QLOC is working on the PC version right now.
Mortal Kombat 1 Introduces New Kameo Fighter System
NetherRealm has yet to reveal any gameplay, but the studio has promised a new fighting system, game modes, bone-crushing finishing moves, and more for Mortal Kombat 1. Kameo Fighters is one such system, albeit it has no connection to the excellent Xbox 360 video game of the same name.
As an alternative to the standard roster of combatants, Kameo combatants are a hand-picked group of allies that will aid you in battle.

Mortal Kombat 1 Gameplay
Mortal Kombat 1 introduces the Kameo Fighters system and maintains the core gameplay that series fans have come to expect, as was demonstrated in a recent webcast from the Summer Game Fest. You can demonstrate your juggling prowess by using this system, which allows supporting characters to assist with combos.
In addition, the new fighting game will have some of the bloodiest deaths since Mortal Kombat 1. Not everyone should read this entry.
We do know that this new iteration of Mortal Kombat will introduce a number of exciting changes. In 2023, any fighting game worth its salt will have features like rollback netcode. Also, crossplay for Mortal Kombat 1 appears to be coming after launch, as it was originally in the game’s frequently asked questions before being inexplicably removed.
All the information you need to know about when Mortal Kombat 1 will be available on current-gen consoles and the PC has finally been provided. Is it good enough to be included in our top 10 list of best fighting games? It would come as a shock if it didn’t.

That’s for the standard edition, while the Premium and Kollector’s Editions of Mortal Kombat 1 cost an additional $110 and $250, respectively.
