Rikka Kise’s Pokémon Horizons Manga to Release in August

Fans of the Pokémon franchise, rejoice: a new manga adaptation of the series is on the way! Following the success of Pokémon Horizons: The Series, a manga based on the show will be produced the following month to satisfy fans’ insatiable want for more Pokémon material.

The first season of the Pokémon anime to not star Ash was a great opportunity for a reboot, and that’s exactly what happened with Pokémon Horizons. Those interested in following Liko and Roy on their voyage can now look forward to the manga.

Shogakukan’s Ciao magazine made the manga’s existence public. The manga is scheduled to appear in the magazine’s upcoming edition, which will be released on August 3. The announcement comes as the 16th and last episode of the animated series approaches, with the manga’s publication date slated for two days before the finale airs.

This manga will likely serve as a stopgap for fans until the next animated series is announced, expanding on the revitalization of the Pokémon franchise that Pokémon Horizons introduced.

The Pokémon Comedy Spinoff, Horizons, Premieres This August

Not much is known about the plot of the manga just yet, but we do know that it will be a comedy by Rikka Kise called Pokémon Detouring Volt Tacklers!! and that it will be based on the Pokémon Horizons series.

Based on the title and what we know about the manga’s author, Kahori Orito’s Twitter, Pokémon Liko’s Treasure will presumably follow the Rising Volt Tacklers as they get into ridiculous predicaments with their Pokémon. Orito’s Tweet makes it clear that Liko will play the lead role in the next gag-manga.

Main characters Liko and Roy were among those introduced to the Pokémon franchise for the first time in Pokémon Horizons: The Series. The two youthful explorers team up with the Rising Volt Tacklers and set forth over the world to solve mysteries and battle familiar foe trainers.

The anime follows the main tale, but the new manga looks like it will reveal amusing side stories of the team as their adventures lead them to different locations, providing a fresh perspective on the newest Pokémon trainers.

Episode 13 of Pokémon Horizons: The Series may be seen on TVTokyo if you’re interested in seeing the show while it’s still broadcasting. Official air dates for the English dub on Netflix have not been announced, however, it is expected to debut in 2023. The new Pokémon spinoff manga will debut in the September issue of Ciao, on sale in Japan on August 4th.
