It is thought that multiple persons were shot early on Saturday morning in the Short North neighborhood.
High Street was closed down from East Second Avenue to Goodale Street through the core of the Short North, which is a commercial and residential region just north of Columbus’ Downtown. A large police presence was seen in various areas, including High Street, which ran through the heart of the Short North from East Second Avenue to Goodale Street.
The tweet below confirms the news:
According to Brian Steel of the local lodge of the Fraternal Order of Police, a citywide officer in difficulty was put out in reaction to the gunshot for an event that began at 2:45 in the morning. The shooting took place in the city. Steel stated that there were no injured officers, but it was not immediately clear how many people had been killed or injured. There was also no information available on the suspects.
In addition, investigators from the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation came to the scene. They have a contract with the Columbus police department that allows them to conduct investigations into shootings that involve city police officers.
