The whole American sports community, but especially the NFL, is in grief. Following a string of tragic losses this year, Ray Lewis III, the son of ay Lewis, has passed away at the young age of 28.

The elder Lewis was an NFL player for 17 years, and his tenure with the Baltimore Ravens is what made him famous.

TMZ is alleging that he died of a narcotics overdose that was completely unintentional.

According to the police report obtained by TMZ Sports, on June 16 the Florida police responded to a call about a medical emergency and found an unresponsive Lewis being given CPR by a friend while another friend screamed for Narcan (a drug used to counteract the effects of an overdose).

The report states that Lewis was found naked and unresponsive between a bed and a wall in a room.

Lewis had naloxone injected into his right nostril, but he still wasn’t responding.

A blue tablet, later unofficially identified as Alprazolam (the medication in brands like Xanax), was found near Lewis’ body, according to the report. A used needle and a little plastic bag were reportedly found at the site by the police.

A diagnosis of accidental overdose should be considered provisional. A medical examiner will determine the official cause of de@th.
