One of the summer’s top films, Minions: Rise of Gru, is currently playing at Peacock until the new year. The second Minions movie and sixth overall in the Despicable Me movie series will be released in theatres on July 1 and, according to Netflix, will arrive in the US in January 2023.
This sequel to the original Minions film, which was released seven years ago, is a prequel that tells the “untold tale of one 12-year-quest old’s to become the world’s greatest supervillain.” One of the year’s highest-grossing films was it. Along with Russell Brand, Julie Andrews, Alan Arkin, Michelle Yeoh, RZA, and Jean-Claude Van Damme, Steve Carrell voices Gru once more in the film.

When will Netflix release Minions: The Rise of Gru?
Illumination films continue to be available on Netflix US thanks to a recent agreement with Universal, albeit under different terms than in the past.
Prior to 2022, Netflix was the only owner of the pay-1 window. One notable example is Sing 2, which was released on Netflix (in the United States) in June 2022 as a result of the previous agreement between Universal and Netflix.
The film moves to Peacock for four months after the theatrical window, then to Netflix for 10 months, and back to Peacock for the remaining four. The movie will be seen in theatres for the first time on July 1st, 2022. Then, on September 23, 2022, it took 84 days to reach Peacock.
The movie will be held by Peacock for four months, thus on January 23, 2022, Netflix is now anticipating its release. That was confirmed when we discovered that the movie would be released in January 2023 on the 23rd. The film will be accessible on Netflix through November 23rd, 2023.

Will Minions: Rise of Gru be available on Netflix abroad
Internationally, the situation is less clear, therefore we can only base our predictions on previous releases. The Secret Life of Pets 2 was made available on Netflix in the UK for six months, about two years after its theatrical debut. If the same holds true here, Minions: Rise of Gru will be accessible in 2024. The same holds true for Netflix Canada, despite the fact that they typically only have Illumination movies available for a year.
