None of the other classic movies from the ’80s can compare to the so-bad-it’s-good brilliance of Road House. Patrick Swayze appeared as Dalton in the 1989 cult classic, and he was a famous “cooler” with a mysterious history who was hired to take over security at a club in Jasper, Missouri called the Double Deuce.
The local crime lord and business magnate, Brad Weasley (Ben Gazzara), would stop at nothing to chase Dalton out of town, but Dalton swiftly makes his presence known as an incorruptible and deadly force.
Doug Liman (Edge of Tomorrow) is directing a remake of Road House, set to be released later this year. The major part of Dalton will be played by Jake Gyllenhaal, and UFC champion Conor McGregor will appear in the film in a significant but unspecified supporting role.
The combination of Liman and Gyllenhaal could be the one-two punch needed for Road House 2023 to be a winner, despite the low likelihood of the film replicating the guilty pleasure excess blend of martial arts fight scenes and gratuitous nudity that made the Patrick Swayze-led original a beloved classic. What follows is the whole list of facts regarding the new Road House movie.
Road House Remake Release Date
Although it has not been officially announced, Road House is expected to premiere in theaters sometime in 2019. Amazon Studios plans to release the remake, which implies it could make its way to the Amazon Prime Video streaming platform after a theatrical run.

What Will the Plot of Road House Entail?
In the 1989 classic, Dalton is recruited to clean up at the Double Deuce, the rowdiest bar south of the Mason-Dixon line. It may not seem like much, but the roadhouse is transformed into a lively hub thanks to the Ph.D.-educated bouncer who knocks out any troublemakers.
Dalton may have been on the wrong side of the vicious local bigwig Brad Wesley because of his relationship with the gorgeous Dr. Clay.
Amazon Prime Video has cast Jake Gyllenhaal, rather than Patrick Swayze, in the role of a former MMA fighter turned bouncer at a Florida Keys hotel. According to Collider, he spends some time in the Tropical Paradise before realizing it’s not quite as perfect as it first seems.
Just Who is in the Road House Cast?
In addition to introducing one of boxing’s finest athletes, Conor MacGregor, to the big screen, the cast of Road House includes a number of talented performers. Elwood Dalton, played by Jake Gyllenhaal, and Ellie, played by Daniela Melchor, will be the film’s primary protagonists. It has also been established that Lukas Gage plays a significant role, though just what that is remains a mystery.
