At one point in 2019, Chris Tucker said that talks for a fourth Rush Hour film starring Jackie Chan were ongoing.
It was the first time a fourth film had ever come close to being made. Chan stated in October 2017 that he and the script’s writer had come to terms, and Tucker confirmed in February 2018 that he was on board as well.
Warning: that project didn’t start filming in 2018 as planned. But that wasn’t all; after Tucker uploaded a photo of the two actors holding up four fingers, fans got even more of a treat.
We seem to be back where we started when Chan’s management company published a statement shortly after this Instagram post stating that the celebrity has not accepted to star in Rush Hour 4.

There has been radio silence on the subject of a fourth picture since then, so you can make your best guess as to whether or not it will be made.
So, here’s the current status of Rush Hour 4 and why you shouldn’t hold your breath for it any time soon.
Release Date for Rush Hour 4 Under Consideration
Until filming begins, we won’t know when the fourth picture will be released, but based on the pattern established by the previous films, we can probably expect it to do so in late summer.
Release dates for each subsequent Rush Hour film are as follows: August 3, 2001 for Rush Hour 2, and August 10, 2007 for Rush Hour 3.
Preparations for the fourth film are unlikely to start anytime soon, putting the earliest probable release date as far out as 2023. That puts the release date in the summer of 2024 at the earliest. Click here to watch Rush Hour 3

Who Else Is Going to Be Back for Rush Hour 4?
We are currently leaning towards the conclusion that Chief Inspector Lee (Jackie Chan) and Detective James Carter (Chris Tucker) will reunite.
It’s hard to imagine how the fourth picture could be completed after so much time has gone if only one of the possible plots is being developed.
There is minimal room for cameos from other characters because only Chan and Tucker are guaranteed to return from the first trilogy. Ambassador Solon Han, played by Tzi Ma in two previous films, may appear in a third.
Daughter Soo-Yung Han (played by Julia Hsu in Rush Hour and Zhang Jingchu in The Last Emperor, respectively) also appeared in the first film (Rush Hour 3).
Just so you know, none of the former cast members from the cancelled TV show will be making an appearance.

Nonetheless, you shouldn’t expect Brett Ratner to return to the director’s chair. He oversaw the production of the first three films, but in 2017, Olivia Munn, Natasha Henstridge, and four others accused him of sexual harassment. He denied all the allegations made against him.
Warner Bros., who released the films in the trilogy through New Line Cinema, announced in April 2018 that it will not renew its co-financing or first-look deals with Ratner or his company, RatPac-Dune Entertainment, in light of the allegations (via Variety). The plot summary of Rush Hour 4
In October 2017, Chan indicated that the screenplay for “Rush Hour 4” was nearing complete and that if there was to be a sequel, it would come down to Tucker agreeing on the notion. Chan also stated that if there was to be a sequel, it would depend on Chan.
Chan was quoted as saying at the time, “For the past seven years, we’ve been turning down the script, turning down the script,” but yesterday, the two of them finally agreed. A second draught of the script will most likely be completed by the end of this month, and it is likely that production will begin the next year. I have faith, particularly if Chris Tucker is on board.”
Nevertheless, the plot is, at best, unclear at this point. There is no way for us to predict what will happen to him in subsequent installments of the “Rush Hour Series.”
