Kimora Lee Simmons Countersues Russell Simmons for $119,000 in Legal Fees
Even after a divorce, exes might stay civil if they can avoid accusations of financial misconduct. The disgraced investment banker filed suit against Kimora Lee Simmons and her ex-husband Tim Leissner in 2021 for allegedly using shares of Russell Simmons’ Celsius stock transferred to their accounts to cover their legal bills, as reported by Page Six.
Court documents quote Russell as saying, “I am shocked and saddened to see how your side has behaved in response to my repeated attempts to get an agreement from you to rightfully and legally reaffirm my 50% of the Celsius shares … which have been locked up with the government after being used for your husband’s bail money.”
RadarOnline stated that Kimora retaliated by filing a $119,000 lawsuit against her ex-husband to cover their mounting legal costs in the ongoing court dispute. Kimora was awarded $100,773.37 and Russell was ordered to pay the fine within 30 days, as stated in the official records. Kimora and Russell’s relationship is currently hostile.
According to People, the creator of “Def Comedy Jam” posted a message on Instagram that appeared to be directed at Kimora: “Stop telling fathers they should have fought harder to see their children & start asking mothers why he had to fight at all.” The founder of Baby Phat Beauty went on to say that Russell had threatened and bullied her and their kids. Russell and Kimora look to be in the midst of a protracted conflict.
