Semi Crashes into 3 Vehicles on I-96, K!lling 1 Person

Following a series of collisions on Wednesday on I-96 close to Saranac, a semi-truck driver perished.

Around midday, a collision occurred in Boston Township’s westbound lanes close to Nash Highway.

Initial reports, according to Michigan State Police, revealed that a semi-truck failed to reduce speed in response to a traffic jam. A passenger automobile was pushed into the median after being rear-ended by it. The first semi then struck a second, forcing it into a third.

The first semi’s driver was knocked out of the vehicle and flown to the hospital with serious injuries. MSP reports that the driver later passed away.

The passenger car’s driver was also sent to the hospital due to non-life-threatening injuries.

The two other semi-truck drivers were not mentioned as being harmed by MSP.

I-96’s westbound lanes were blocked near Nash Highway while emergency personnel responded to the area. Around 3 p.m., the highway reopened.
