Shailene Woodley is no stranger to the demands of fame, she grew up in show business. The actress began her acting career at the tender age of five.
She has amassed an excellent list of previous work experience throughout the years. It hasn’t always been easy to navigate such a successful career. For the Divergent star, this was especially true when she was a young adult dealing with illness.
Shailene Woodley Has Been Largely Silent Regarding Her Illness
Despite her friendly, approachable demeanor, Woodley plays some cards extremely close to the breast. Her disease is a prime example of this.
The star of “Endings, Beginnings” didn’t come forward with her history of severe illness and chronic agony until the year 2020. Also, Woodley has not officially disclosed the nature of her sickness, but she did discuss it openly in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
The ‘O.C.’ Star Had to Decline Numerous Acting Roles
Woodley described her sickness as “very debilitating.” I turned down several opportunities, not because I didn’t want to, but because my health prevented me from taking part.
And I know that I endured much more hardship than was necessary since I neglected my health. Physical discomfort was compounded by the individual’s refusal to accept assistance or care throughout those years.
Lots of things about Woodley’s health situation were bad. Because of the discomfort, she had to decline the number of acting roles to focus on her health.
Despite this, the actor from The Descendants did gain some insight from his experience with illness. It diverted her attention inside, away from the criticism directed at her.
She Doesn’t Care What People Think
It forced me to swiftly develop the exceedingly challenging life skill of not caring what other people think of you, as Woodley put it.
As the author puts it, “the more I paid attention to the cacophony that was surrounding me, the longer it was taking my body and mind to heal since I wasn’t focused on myself, I was focused on a picture of myself via the lenses of everyone around us.”
Woodley’s health has thankfully improved in the intervening years. The Big Little Lies star has no problem admitting that it was difficult to be in the public eye as she battled illness on the set of the show.
Going through something so physically dominating while also having so many people pay attention to the choices you make,
the things you say, what you do, and how you look is a fascinating experience. “I’m on the tail end of it, which is very exciting, but it’s an interesting thing.” I hope you like this post so you can visit for more posts on Journalization.org.
