Six persons were shot dead at different places in a small town in rural Tate County, Mississippi. A man has been caught.
Tate County Sheriff Brad Lance told CNN that Richard Dale Crum, who is 52 years old, is the suspect. He said that Crum shot his ex-wife on Friday.
Later that day, he was taken into custody. He is now being charged with many crimes, including first-degree murder.
CNN says that one of the people hurt was the ex-wife of the suspect’s new boyfriend. The stepfather of the suspect is said to have been one of the people who were killed. It looks like the last two people killed were construction workers.
All of the shootings happened in Arkabutla, which has less than 300 people and is about 40 miles south of Memphis, Tennessee.
After seeing a car that matched the description of the suspect’s car, a sheriff’s deputy tried to stop it. When the driver kept going, the deputy gave chase. They finally caught up with the suspect in the driveway of another house, according to WJTV.
WJTV says that police found two more dead bodies at that house. One was in a car, and the other was on the street. CNN says that when sheriff’s deputies searched the suspect’s car, they found several handguns and a shotgun.
Police had not yet found proof of a possible reason.
