On Memorial Day, a sh**ting broke out along a busy beach boardwalk in Hollywood, Florida, injuring nine people, according to authorities, as onlookers fled for shelter.
According to Hollywood Police Department spokesman Deanna Bettineschi, officers arrived at the scene of the sh**ting at 6:42 p.m. and discovered nine victims with gunshot wounds. After getting treatment on the site, the nine victims were sent to Memorial Regional Hospital and Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital.
Six adults and three children were among the nine injured, according to Yanet Obarrio Sanchez, a representative for Memorial Healthcare System. She stated that all of the victims were in stable condition.
Five people between the ages of 25 and 65 were also hit, according to Bettineschi, along with four children between the ages of 1 and 17. She stated that while the others were stable, one was undergoing surgery late Monday. If a 17-year-old was treated as an adult by the hospital was not immediately evident.
According to early investigations, a confrontation between two groups “resulted in gunfire,” according to Bettineschi. Police claimed they were seeking further suspects after detaining one person of interest.
Videos shared Monday night on Twitter showed emergency medical personnel responding and helping numerous injured persons. People were also seen fleeing the scene on a live camera.

Witness accounts of the Memorial Day sh**ting
Popular beach resort Hollywood Beach is located around 20 miles north of Miami and 11 miles south of Fort Lauderdale. It was anticipated that a lot of people would visit the beach over Memorial Day weekend.
According to the Hollywood Police Department, the investigation is still ongoing and there is a significant police presence close to the beach boardwalk. A location was created by officials for family reunions.
Hollywood Mayor Josh Levy issued a statement saying, “Thank you to the good samaritans, paramedics, police, and emergency room doctors and nurses for their immediate response to aid the victims of today’s sh**ting.”
According to Alvie Carlton Scott III, he was on the beach when he heard a lot of gunfire, The Associated Press said. He claimed that once a police officer ordered everyone to run, he hid behind a tree and left the location.

After Florida Governor Ron DeSantis secretly signed HB 543 last month, there are no longer any license requirements to carry a concealed firearm in most public locations. Florida will become the 26th state to do away with the requirement for a concealed firearms license when the law takes effect on July 1.
