Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department were pursuing a suspect in a stolen car Saturday night in the Echo Park neighborhood.
The Honda CR-V, which occasionally veered into opposing lanes of traffic and sped through stop signs, was seen tearing through surface streets at speeds of up to 80 miles per hour.
According to the police, the chase started in Mid-Wilshire just before midnight.

One passenger exited the car and fled the scene on foot when it briefly stopped in the parking lot of what seemed to be an apartment building at N. Alvarado Street and Branden Street in the Elysian Heights neighborhood.

Around 11:15 p.m., the LAPD Watch Commander ordered all ground units to stop the chase due to its hazard.
