The Harris County Sheriff’s Office in Texas said Sunday that a man killed three teenagers with a gun and then raped a 12-year-old girl at their home in a suburb of Houston overnight.
Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said that the suspect was found dead in the master bedroom of the home in Galena Park. He had shot himself.
He said that the other three people who died were 13, 14, and 19 years old.
Gonzalez said that around 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Galena Park police were called to a report of gunfire and a claim of sexual assault by a 12-year-old.
Gonzalez praised the girl for being smart enough to grab the child, who was not hurt, and run to a neighbor’s house. KPRC, an NBC station in Houston, said that the girl was naked.

Gonzalez said, “When she ran out, she was able to think about it and grab the one-year-old.”
He said that the 12-year-old was taken to a hospital to get help.

The 19-year-old victim was pregnant, police at the scene told KPRC. Her unborn child was not counted as dead.
Gonzalez said that the suspect got into a fight with at least one of the teens before shots were fired. KPRC said that one of the teens who died wasn’t a member of the family and was just visiting.
Sheriff’s officials and a family member told the station that the suspect may have already been angry because someone said hello to his girlfriend, the mother of two of the victims.

KPRC said that the woman had just left the house for a short time when the violence happened.
No one knew who the dead people were, including the suspect.
On Sunday, the violence was still being looked into. Nearly 11,000 people live in Galena Park, a city just east of Houston in Harris County.
