On Monday, authorities stated that the nude corpse of a 17-year-old girl was discovered in a millet field inside the jurisdiction of the Dibiyapur police station.
The girl’s family claims she was murdered after being raped.
Her death became politicized when Congress posted a video on its Twitter account claiming the police were “running away” with her body. This claim was strongly refuted by the police.
Family members told reporters that the child had gone outside that morning to defecate, but when she didn’t return, they began searching for her and eventually located her dead in a nearby field.
Police Superintendent Charu Nigam of Auraiya, along with forensics specialists and 10 police teams (including a Special Operations Group), traveled to the area to solve the crime.
In the meanwhile, Congress broadcast a clip showing officers dragging a body behind them while a lady followed. The tweet said, “In Auraiya, the nude body of a 17-year-old girl was found in a field. As soon as the cops came, they started sprinting away with the body. The hapless household is falling behind schedule. When it comes to violence against women, Uttar Pradesh ranks “First.” Nonetheless, no one will refer to it as “jungle raj.”
SP Nigam denied the claims, claiming police officers had completed all necessary paperwork and taken ownership of the body after calming the grieving family.
The corpse was not seized by force, he said.
A case will be opened based on the family’s complaint, the officer said, and a video will be taken of the postmortem examination.
