The District Attorney’s Office for the County of Los Angeles stated on Wednesday that two 17-year-olds would be charged with murder in connection with the stabbing death of a 56-year-old woman named Du Young Lee, who was found in the Fashion District.
The fatal event occurred on October 1 at around 1:15 p.m. near the intersection of Olympic Boulevard and Wall Street, close to the shop where Lee sold hair extensions and wigs.
The investigation has led authorities to suspect that two juveniles, a boy and a girl, robbed Lee and then killed him by stabbing him during a dispute.
The first reason the police were called to the scene was a report of fired shots. Instead, they discovered Lee unconscious and suffering from many knife wounds. He had been stabbed multiple times. After arriving on the scene, paramedics determined that the 56-year-old patient was already deceased.
Mr. Lee was assassinated in the middle of the day on a public street in the central business district of Los Angeles when he was only attempting to operate his company. According to a statement made by District Attorney Gascón in a press release. Everyone who knew and cared about him will suffer significantly from his passing away. I want to make it clear that my office will strive tirelessly to bring those who participate in violent activities responsible – even if the persons in question are juveniles.
Both 17-year-old suspects are still being held in jail and have been charged with one crime of murder and one count of robbery in the second degree.
