Texas man charged with killing ex-new girlfriend’s boyfriend

Police say they arrested a man in Texas because he shot and killed his ex-new girlfriend’s boyfriend.

Austin police say that a fight between Eric LaMountain, 35, and Gavin Wood, 37, happened around 3:30 a.m. on Tuesday and that LaMountain killed Wood. When police arrived at the scene of the shooting, they found Wood on the sidewalk with gunshot wounds. Wood died at the scene.

LaMountain ran away from the scene of the crime, but police found him and took him into custody a short time later. He is charged with murder in the first degree. Last year, a dead man wrapped in blankets was found in a closet in Houston.

His ex-girlfriend told police that he found out about her relationship with Wood at the end of December when she was still with LaMountain. He found out where she was by using a location-sharing app.

She told LaMountain that she had cheated on him, and they broke up on January 8.

Court documents say that two days later, she was at Wood’s house when she got a text from LaMountain that said, “I told you what I would do if you ever cheated on me, and I still have his address.”

She was on her way home when she got a call from LaMountain. He told her that he had shot Wood and thought the victim was dead.

She then called the police, and a short time later, LaMountain was arrested in connection with the murder.

LaMountain told police after he was arrested that he shot Wood in the head while Wood was standing in the front yard. LaMountain shot at Wood until his gun was empty as he turned to run away. He thought about reloading his gun but instead chose to leave the area.
