Turn of the Tide Renewed for Season 2 Announced by Netflix Portugal

The characters in Turn of the Tide are all well-meaning yet end up making poor choices because they are trying to do the right thing.

The reasons are obvious: away from their isolated island community, they will have more access to resources and a higher quality of life. Eduardo, a fisherman with a blind father who hopes to make it big in the United States, Silvia, who Eduardo has feelings for but who is dating Eduardo’s friend Rafael, and Carlinhos are all good people who just can’t seem to find their place.

Turn of the Tide Renewed for Season 2

The second season of Turn of the Tide, or Rabo de Peixe as it is known in Portuguese, has been ordered by Netflix Portugal.

Here is the official Tweet posted by Netflix Portugal:

Turn of the Tide, a seven-part series loosely based on a true story, premiered on Netflix around the world on May 26th, 2023.

The show, developed by Augusto Fraga, centers on a man named Eduardo who spots a golden chance when a boat carrying a large quantity of illegal drugs washes up on his home island. José Condessa, Helena Caldeira, André Leito, Rodrigo Tomás, Maria Joo Bastos, Albano Jerónimo, and Afonso Pimentel are only some of the many talented actors featured in the production.

Now, less than a month after the series premiered on Netflix, it has been officially announced that it will be returning for a second season. It’s likely that a renewal order came early, as we’ve seen with a number of other series recently, and that we’re only now learning about the future in the open.

In a statement provided to outlets in Portugal, Augusto Fraga said (translated from Portuguese):

“Eduardo’s story couldn’t end like this . For all the people who got emotional, laughed and suffered with that group of friends from ‘Rabo de Peixe’, we promise an exciting and surprising second season . I feel very proud of the care we received, in the Azores, in the rest of the country and far beyond our borders. Once again, Portuguese talent will fill Netflix screens around the world,”
