Unforgotten Season 5 Release Date Status, Cast, Plot, Trailer and Latest News!

DCI Cassie Stewart (Nicola Walker) was tragically killed off in season 4 of Unforgotten, but the show is returning to ITV for another season.

It’s been confirmed that Sinéad Keenan (Showtrial, Little Blue Boy) would take over as Walker’s replacement in season 5.

Actor Sanjeev Chaska, who plays DI Sunny Khan, welcomes the actress to the Unforgotten cast.

During an interview with RadioTimes.com, the Chaska highlighted what we may expect from the fifth season of Unforgotten given the shocking events of the last one.

It will pick up shortly after the previous story’s finish, he promised. As a result, there is a link to that tale.

As a result, he said he felt “extremely fortunate” to be a part of the show.

This one was written by Chris Lang, who has written all of the others. Reading the scripts is exhilarating and a little strange, but I’ve had the pleasure of meeting and working with Nicola twice or three times in the past several months. “So we’re still in touch a lot.”

When it came to the casting and scripting for Series 1, Bhaskar said, “I and no one else had any idea how this would pan out.” As a result, Bhaskar said he has confidence in the upcoming director for Series 5.

Actors will be cast the same way they have been in the past four films. Those kinds of people are a lot of fun to work with and work against and work with, to say the least. Also, it’s a great way to stay alert.

Find out who will return to the cast and what will happen in the upcoming fifth season of Unforgotten.

Unforgotten Season 5 Release Date Speculation

The fifth season of Unforgotten has not yet been announced by ITV, but perhaps we won’t have to wait as long as we did for season four.

Series one, two, and three aired in 2015, 2017, and 2018, consecutively, until series four arrived on ITV in around a year and a half. Series three and four were separated by two and a half years, in part because of the coronavirus pandemic, which caused filming to be delayed.

Assuming that COVID-19 doesn’t interfere with production schedules, we estimate that Unforgotten will be back on our screens in September or October of 2022.

Chris Lang, the show’s creator, tweeted in July 2021 that he was working on season five of Unforgotten while mentioning a character by the name of “Faith.” Maybe Nicola Walker’s replacement in the Unforgotten is named after her.

ITV thanked Nicola Walker for her work on the show in a previous tweet, before stating that “Nicola and writer Chris Lang decided that Cassie’s story would come to an end last night, but that Unforgotten would continue, in series five, with a new case, and a new ‘Partner in Crime’ for DI Sunny Khan.”

Sunny Khan actor Sanjeev Bhaskar said he was looking forward to the new season “the news of the recommission of Unforgotten, tweeting, “I’ll continue to observe and learn from #NicolaWalker as I’ve done these past five years, shining with pride as my buddy excels in everything she does. She’s a family heirloom as well as a cultural icon.”

Unforgotten Season 5 Cast

The Kumars at No. 42’s Sanjeev Bhaskar will reprise his role as DI Sunil “Sunny” Khan in the fourth series.

Walker’s character, DCI Cassie Stuart, suffered a horrible end at the end of season four and will not be returning.

New character DCI Jessica James, played by Sinéad Keenan, will take Walker’s place in the Unforgotten cast.

The death of Walker’s character has been planned since season 3, she said in a recent interview with TV Insider.

“After Season 3, there was a lot of discussion about where the show should continue, and the decision was made jointly. In Season 3, I believe the clues were there “said she,

“The show’s name is Unforgotten, and I believe this character has a lot of narrative beauty. We won’t forget about her. Because she was a genuine person, she made for an interesting television character.”

Sunny’s police colleagues, including Lewis Reeves (DC Jake Collier), Carolina Main (DS Fran Lingley), Georgia Mackenzie (Dr. Leanne Balcombe), and Pippa Nixon (DC Karen Willetts), will all be back in the new season, as will Sunny’s now-fiancee Sal (Michelle Bonnard).

No one knows if Cassie’s father Martin (Peter Egan), mother Janet, son Adam, John, or Jenny will show up after her death (Janet Dibley is Martin’s partner, after all). However, perhaps they’ll stop by the station to see Sunny?

There’s no word yet on who will play the suspects, the victims, and the relatives of Sunny’s latest victims and suspects. Based on previous seasons’ great casts and the enormous popularity of Series 4, we may expect many of high-profile actors to apply for these roles.

Unforgotten Season 5 Plot

Season 5 of Unforgotten will begin with DCI Jess (Keenan) counting down to her first day on the job.

According to a sneak peek on ITV: “To make a good impression on her new coworkers, will Jess be able to deliver and inspire them?

“Cassie Stuart’s spirit is bound to haunt her in one way or another. There are some huge shoes to fill, after all. Is she up to the task of following in the footsteps of her highly regarded and revered predecessor?

“Human remains were found in a newly refurbished historic property in Hammersmith, London, Jess’s first case. If they’ve been there for a long time, was this a murder from the 1930s, or was the body removed more recently?”

What Happened at the End of Unforgotten Season 4?

We learned the truth about Dean Barton’s (actual name Dean Quinn) murder of Matthew Walsh in the 1990s in a shocking series finale. Ram Sidhu (Phaldut Sharma) recognized Matthew as the person who had beaten him up and sexually raped Fiona (Liz White) a few weeks before and began after him, but Dean found Matthew first, who had stumbled in an allotment and struck his head on a short brick wall, knocking himself out.

Avenging his brother’s death with an engraved fountain pen that he’d received from Stephen, Dean, who had tried to hide his family’s ties to crime by assuming a new last name and becoming an officer, fatally shot Walsh in the chest. Dean immediately recognized the killer as the man who’d shot and killed Stephen, Dean’s rock-solid older brother.

While Dean was arrested for Walsh’s death, Ram was charged with impeding the legitimate burial of a body (together with Liz and Fiona), as well as his involvement in Dean’s cocaine smuggling enterprise. Liz had to resign from the police department because of her criminal charges, and Fiona had to face an additional charge because of her bogus therapy license.

However, even though the squad was able to catch Walsh’s killer, Cassie Stewart’s operation revealed that she had suffered major brain damage and was unlikely to recover. Sunny delivers a eulogy at her burial and visits her cemetery with flowers after her death is announced.
